Well in 2 days I leave for our 1800 mile drive to bear camp. It will be our first bear hunt and we have been counting down the days for 2 years now.
I have watched Bear'N Down 1-6 but I am still a little concerned that I will not be able to judge the size of the bear. I hope that once on stand and the first bear shows up all of my pre-hunt work will have paid off. Bear camp is in Manitoba, Canada with Mountain Oak Outfitters. I am not looking forward to the cost of gas to get us there and back with the price of gas increasing daily. Well wish me luck and I will update everyone when I get back. |

I watch for the size of the ears,if they look small its should have a big melon on him.If his back the height of the barrels he will be a shooter too.

jj, Timbas right. just look at the ears. the smaller they look, the bigger the bear. but do not get hung up on size. not that important. good luck to ya.

Are you hunting out of Ste Rose or does Blair have a lodge. You could stop in if you've come this far.

He has a lodge. His directions are on the web site. I do not know what town it is in. Where are you located?

Well we got back Saturday from the hunt. I am hooked for life. I saw bears each day of the hunt and tagged out on a brown color phase on the third day of the hunt. My concerns about not being able to judge the size of the bears came true. The bear I shot was small but I vow to shoot a larger one next time.
I have some good video from the hunt and was wondering is there any way to put video on this site? |
