Very windy and cold morning. Heard lots of gobbling but only had 2 hens enter the food plot all morning. Around 10:30 this longbeard entered the field followed by a second.
They paid no attention to the decoys for the longest time. I purred a few times and this gobbler started strutting. It took them FOREVER to make their way to the decoys and I shot him at 12 yards. I thought the shot was good but discovered it was too far forward and a little high when I cleaned him. He ran about 300 yards and it was pure determination that found this turkey. He was piled up in a thicket.

I was just gonna call you to seee if you found it. Great job buddy! Did you get good footage? We had a tough first day. Holly and I heard lots of gobblers but they didnt come in the field they normally do. We only saw 2 hens. Oh well Holly and I took off the whole week to hunt at home. So if we dont get abird this week I will be miserable come next weekend.
![]() Oh yeah what were the measurements of the turkey?
