We trapped a lot growing up and sold the meat and furs. I'm getting back into this year mostly because my son wants to.
Anyone else do any trapping? |

Good I'll need some pointers!!
I'm going to set out PVC sets for coons and griners. What's the best for yotes and bobcats? |

Yep, got 4 red fox, a coyote, a few coons, mink, muskrat and a beaver so far. Just have a small line out mostly for fun.

I check my trapline while taking my daughter to school. She (7) and I have caught 6 reds, 18 coons, 3 'yotes so far this winter. It's been mild around here for the most part this season but the furs are thick.
The girls at the gym where I workout at a couple nights a week can't believe I'd do something as barbaric as trap a cute little furry racoon. I guess they've never tried to release a coon from a trap.

What are you best set ups?
PVC works for coons and such. I use a 5 gal bucket set up as well. |

Mostly bobcats and it is amazing how stupid they can be sometimes. That's why I like trapping them plus the prices aren't too bad either. Definitely lots of fun.

I like to coon trap. I have some out now but no luck so far. I think our neighbor cleaned our area out.

I rely on the old scent post set mostly with a few dirt hole and blind sets tossed in.
On Christmas Eve morning I was running late as I was checking traps from my truck with binos I saw I had a coon. Gosh there I was dressed in a Holiday sweater with a nice wool skirt and heels...luckily I had my catch pole and pac boots behind the seat...off I went across a muddy corn field...The set was in a small runoff gulley from the field's edge and I had made 2 sets not 8' apart....when I reached it I slipped the snare over the big coon's neck and pulled it tight...as I was kneeling over the boar I felt hot breath on my neck!!! I jumped in fright and landed on my butt in the little creek holding the coon at arm's lenght ...when I looked to see what had been breathing down my neck ...I saw the farmer's collie dog sitting there watching me!!!!!!!!Cripes did I look the mess and I was late to begin with. I popped the coon behind the ear and trudged off across that muddy field to my truck, back home to a hot shower ....Making it to work with my tray of prized baked goodies for the office party....3 hrs late
