Man , I hate to say this, but in my yearbook there is a sign showing gas at 52.9 and we thought that was outrageous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can vaguely remember the TV going off air at around midnight, the National Anthem being played, and then coming back on air at 6 with the National Anthem! I remember riding in the back of the pickup!!!! I remember when a terrorist was the little neighbor kid down the road!!!!!! I will think of more as the day goes on! |

I still remember when gas FIRST went over $1 a gallon. None of the gas pumps were capable of being set for that price, so until they got new pumps, they set the price at 50-whatever cents per gallon, then you paid twice what the total cash amount showed on the pump.

I can remember when gas was .25 a gallon during some gas station wars in the late 1960's (normally .35 ) and gas stations actually had a guy fill-up your car.

Remember the wide world of sport would put on a Fred Bear hunt every once in a while on Sundays.

Remember when you could actually win in a field day competition.
(Not sure of that's a local thing only here or not. In elementary/primary school once a year we would have a day of track and field/other odd things in the spring. Grade vs grade or close enough. Kids were encouraged to win. Actually won ribbons showing 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. Beyond 3rd place... you got nothin. Now if you win or even if you fall down 27 times before finishing the race ::like me::, everyone wins.) The best part of field day was always some kid got his or her tongue stuck to the ice-cream bar/bomb pop/fudgecicle etc. and walked around with it dangling from the tip laughing until a: gravity and physics took over and it fell off, or b: they didn't know they shouldn't pull it off in the first place. good times....
