My stepson has a pistol crossbow we bought him for target practice. the bolts that came with it are field tip, and it's a 50 lb. pull to cock it. Will that strong of a pull kill a deer if I'm close enough? I know I'll have to get some bolts with broadheads, because that's what's required in my state.

Love the bow, but the muzzleloader is a close second with handguns and rifles after that... I suppose its all good if there is someone there to share the experience with you. I think the reason that I like the bow best is that it is very relaxing and extremely satisfying to shoot.

My choice is compound for anything out of a treestand. Recurve for elk, hogs and turkey on the ground. I've been addicted to bowhunting for over 20 years. Small game with shotgun. I won't hunt the deer shotgun season in Ohio for one good reason, I was nearly killed by another hunter during the shotgun season in 1986. Once bitten twice shy, like the ol' saying goes.
I'd love to hunt with a muzzleloader if I had the opportunity.

My passion is bowhunting big game.
I do love dove hunting once in a while though with the old shotgun. That is just pure fun! |
