Default How close to the roost?

Do you setup? I get as close as I can. It depends on the cover and terrain for me.

As close as possible w/o spooking them. If I know where a bird is roosted, I'll go in an hour before light just to be safe

Sneak in untill you're busted then set-up about 30 yds before that point the next morning. Seriously,,, once you're busted it might be the next morning before you get any action. My $0.02 buckhunter

There's one area I like to sit that is 150 yards from an outcropping of trees that they like to roost in. Scary thing is I have to walk through in the dark to get there and am walking within 50 yards of those trees. I got to be like Elmer Fudd going in til' I get passed the trees.
