That shot was meant to be funny because he was WAY beyond how far the bow can even shoot an arrow. That arrow didn't get 1/2 way to that ram. Would I do it? No. Arrows are too expensive and that just isn't funny.
If you all are such ethics police, where was all the rage when Ralph took a 60+ yard shot at a moving caribou while a hard wind was blowing on the tundra? Remember, the one he shot in the rump and got lucky as can be that the shot actually killed it? Then he tried to act as if it was bad luck and not a bad decision that lead to the terrible hit. If you are going to judge one, you should at least judge them all. That episode actually turned me away from the show for a while. I thought Ralph was above that. |

I wasn't going to reply to this but huntingson is right it was meant as a joke, he wasn't actually trying to hit that ram and there was no one around to get hurt. If he wants to loose an arrow to make him feel better let him. I say loosen up a little bit and laugh at a joke now and then.

In the video you can't accurately judge how far away the ram is....I couldn't tell that it was entirely out of bow range, how could you? I also did not see the video of Ralph taking a bad shot, so I can't speak intelligently about it. My feelings however, are that this isn't the kind of behavior that you'd want young hunters or anti-hunters viewing. It just sets a bad example for youngsters and gives the antis fuel for their fire. Whether it was a joke or not...just not something that needed to be aired IMHO.

Imus' comment about the female basketball players was meant to be funny as well. My comments have nothing to do with Ralph taking a long shot at a caribou in the wind......or Terry Drury taking a "head on" shot at a buck with 3 other deer standing directly behind it......or Scott Schultz taking a 58 yard shot on a bedded mulie...IN THE WIND......or every other shot selection that is shown on TV that some may feel are questionable. If you think a pot shot at a distance ridge compares to a questionable shot in the wind.....then I'm wasting my time debating you on this issue. Do I think he was trying, or even thought he could hit the ram? Hell no!!!! That is not the point. The POINT is......it should not have aired on TV. If he wants to waste arrows......go for it. He said, "I'm not leaving here without taking a shot at a ram!". So that is what he did, he took a shot at a ram on a distant ridge. Poor choice |
