Default fall black bear in maine

just a couple weeks to go till my son and i head back to maine for our second attempt at shooting a bear. last year was our first try but even after all the prep we ran into mother nature and a record heatwave that shut down any bear activity to only the middle of the night, now even though the bear were scarce our guide and outfitter took very good care of us and busted their buts trying to put us on bear (my son actually missed one the third night) i unfortunatly never saw anything bigger than a raccoon but now my second chance is almost here, i can hardly wait, i'm just about packed and i shoot my hoyt on my practice course everyday,i'll keep this updated as the adventure progresses btw, any advice, tips or hints that may help this longtime deer hunter become a better bear hunter feel free, i'm greatful for any help

First off -- wish you two the best of luck.

Your daily practice is the best thing you can do to prepare because once the adrenalin kicks in during your hunt the rest has to be second nature. If you have watched any of the bear'n down videos you've had some great advice already and some great tips. If not then I'd say order several today LOL. And no I don't have any connection with this place.

Look forward to your reporting back in as how the hunt progresses.

Those pics will fire you up alright. That's a respectable size bear-- no monster in my opinion but one to look forward to on your hunt. Keep us up on how your hunt unfolds for you. Good luck and travel safe.

Fall bear hunting is a tough time to shot a bear or even see one for various reasons. It does not surprise me that it was a no bear hunt. Try a spring hunt and I bet you'll see bear and probably kill one too.
