Default off season snowy stumpin!

north georgia
2-13-10 - Just a few of the stumps I shot today on my mountain!

Starting out of the basement…

Looking down the hill and surveying the “hunting” grounds…

Spotted a mean looking stump at 15 steps!

As I retrieve my arrow I spot another down hill at 25 steps… I put 3 arrows in this one! Best group of the week!

Now I sit and wait, surveying up the hill side for more intruders…

and down...

My rose oak at the ready!

Ive spotted one now, 32 steps… MISSED!! But I have spotted my errant arrow about 30 steps beyond my target in the snow bank…

Zoomed in…

On my way up the hill I hit this one at 20 steps, just barely slid it by the tree next to it!...

Shot right through this one!...

Now for the greatest stumping shot of my career! 27 steps, kneeling and shooting down hill…

Nailed it!!

Now I turn up the hill and head to warmer places!

Thanks, looks like you did the right thing on a snow day, great story and pics.

Now that looks like a great way to practise with the traditional gear plus it does have a fun side to it. Reminds me ---- I should get my recurve out a bit more.

Have older recurve (6' tall) that I have never shot, Only ever had an string on it once. Going to try it out alittle this coming year, just have to find the stringer and the string now. Most likely will be due for an new string, going to have to also find some arrows for it as the old ones were alums. with plastic fletchings that have become brittle over the years.

My only question is: Did you have tags for those stumps or were you out poaching?
