The hunt was great!!! There were a few does that were taken, but no bucks
I saw lots of shooters, but only one came close enough to shoot. Missed it at 43yrds I called it in on a snort wheeze from 200 yards away!! One day I saws over 100 deer, including 4 shooters that were fighting, but they stayed 80 yards away! If the hunt had been the next week, I think things would have been different. There was still alot of corn standing. If any of you are interested in hunting with a first class outfitter, I highly recommend Eagle Lakes Outfitters. Ted and Tina are great and the guides are awesome. I think I can speak for all the ladies by saying that we all had a GREAT time and are looking forward to next year!!!

Great story from Shannon!
So sorry for your miss Webb. I don't think I've ever seen 100 deer in one day, heck 10 in a day would be a super day for me. Sounds like a fun event!

We did have a great time! Saw more deer on stand there than I have in the last 12 years hunting!! Saw some real dandies too. I saw Bill Ball's buck, but never got closer than 50 yards for me and that wasn't the big one in the field! The guides knew where to put us. They know how to take a joke, too . Right Dano?!Saw deer all but one morning and it was very windy that morning. Had a buck parade one night that included a tank of a buck. He had to have weighed 300 pounds and was an old man. He had main beams that were as big around as my wrist, but few tines. He was on the decline. Also saw big 10 pointer, around 150-160".
Accommidations were very comfortable, food was good and plentiful, and Ted and Tina run a classy operation! One of the ladies' hubby was at a neighboring operation and let's just say his experience was at the opposite end of the spectuim ( mice running over him in his sleep, no meals, not seeing deer...) and Ted and Tina were willing to make acccomidations for him....no charge. I think 7 does were killed and I know I had a miss at a good buck. At least it was a clean miss. ![]() I'll go back to Eagle Lakes! Oh yeah, Ralph and Vicki are just the same as they are on TV. |
