Only thing was, they wouldn't come close enough for me to get a good shot on them with my bow. I could have "reached out and touched them" with my shotgun, but gun season doesn't open until tomorrow.

I'm going back to the same place in the AM!

I saw 8 last Monday morning. Missed one at under 25 yards. Learned a few things about a crossbow in the mean time.

I went out yesterday and busted several as I was walking in at 5:45. (*~*) they're never there tht early. The must be getting more pressure than I thought. Oh, well...that just means I get to go sit in the woods again!! HA!

I was out this morning (went to church last night) and set up where I had seen those does. Stayed there for about an hour and a half and was getting rather cold. Didn't see anything there, so I decided to move to another spot. Had my shotgun in one hand, my bow in the other, and saw 3 does on the edge of the field I usually set up on. Was close enough to shoot with my shotgun, but with my other hand full, I couldn't. I hesitated anyway when I saw them, and they saw me and bolted into the woods.

Maybe one day this week, if it's cold enough, I can go back right after dropping my son off at school. It'll be daylight by then, but you never know.

Keep at it!! At least you're seeing them! Get some hand warmers to help keep your hands warm. Layer your clothing. If you don't have a lot of hunting clothes you can do what Buddy Bill does: he wears sweat pants under camo pants, a couple pair of socks with toe warmers, a shirt or two along with at least 2 sweatshirts or hoodies and 1 3xl camo shirt over all of that.

So, camo-wise, he's got 1 pair of camo pants-a little big to accomodate the sweats and a camo shirt 2 times too big to accomodate all the sweatshirts he has on. He also has 1 camo jacket that he adds when it gets colder. So, you don't have to spend a truckload to keep yourself warm. Hope this helps ya!

I've about decided to save my bow for when I'm just sitting on my back deck waiting for them to find the brassica patch I put out. I'll just use my shotgun at my friend's place. Less stuff to carry.

I had 2 small does by me this weekend, but I decided to pass. This was on Saturday morning and I figured I'd have something come by during the weekend. Never saw anything elsee all weekend. Go figure.

As far as cold goes, another idea I found out about this weekend, if you have a pair of insulated bibs or even you jacket or coat, sew a big pocket on the inside on the back so that you can put those body warmers in there. Place it over where your kidneys are to keep them warm.
