What release?

if you see someone shooting with the back of their palm towards their face they are probably shooting a back tension release. Basically a true back tension release doesn't have a trigger just a pivoting hook that holds the string and rotates to release as you execute a proper shot, some do however have some type of trigger mechanism that makes them a little easier and safer to shoot. The back tension part of it refers to the activity of your back muscles to activate it. It has been described to me in the following way, imagine being at full draw with an egg between your shoulder blades in order for the release to go off you push and pull with both arms to try and "break the egg" as you do this your release hand should rotate and fire the release. If someone else has a better description please feel free to chime in!

I'm using a Zenith Comfort X-Cel back tension release. I started using a back tension release in our indoor league and it really helped my shooting tremendously. Of doing it right is the key, otherwise, you're not helping yourself.

What ACPOSSETIM described is what takes place using one. It's a surprise release, as you concentrate on your target while you are squeezing your back muscle together causing the release to go off.

Little Bitty Goose by Scotts because I can adjust the length of the string from the wrist strap to the release and I can adjust the wrist strap -- and this is perfect for my small hands!! (Hubby says I have midget hands b/c I wear kids gloves and some of them are too big!!)
