Team one back on the board. Were not going to be left behind. 9pt buck and his lady friend. Got in the stand early this morning. About 6:30 I reached behinf me to get a call out of my back pack. Having trouble getting it open I turned to look behind me and here stood the buck at 30 yards. He had me pegged. I slowly let g of the bag turned back around and got my gun off of its hook, then turned back around to face him. He stomped a few times and started to ease his way down the ridge. He was walking through some thick brush, but as he came to a small opening I shot. He just dissapeared. I stood there wondering if I hit him, or if I just missed him running off. Then I heard a deer stomp behind me, turn and look to see a doe. I shoot her and she runs a big circle and dies just up the hill from where I shot at the buck. After the second shot does took off everywhere. He had quite a herem with him. Guess that is why he didnt bolt on me. I get down and find him laying right where I shot him, behind a fallen log. Thats when the fun begins. I hoof the mile back to the truck and get the wheeler. Afte spending 45minutes getting him on the wheeler, I got to start it and the battery is dead. I go to pull start it and the pull rope breaks. I then carried the rest fo my stuff the mike hike back the truck and try to get a hold of a buddy to come jump the wheeler, no luck. So I walk back in, get the battery and carry it back to the truck. I let it charge on the truck battery for about a half hour carry it back in anf luckily get the wheeler started. I though my legs were going to fall off. Can not say that I have ever climed that many hills in one day. I was done shooting by 7:00 and finally had everything on the trailer by 11:00. What a morning. The best part was my 5 yr old calling mom and telling her that dad shot a monster buck. Guess he watched a few to many hunting videos with me. Naa!!!!!!!
