HUGE DECISION (might regret it)

This might be a stupid move on my part, but ive chosen to let this deer walk and hold out for a bigger one. I have another farm that i know will produce a big boy this fall. Plus the thought of killing out first week and not getting to bang those horns together this fall would kill me.

Nice pics! If you're gonna hold off those, can you send either of them up here so I can get a crack at 'em. The public land I hunt just don't get those kinda bucks. So, I'd be proud to shoot either of them.

If you think you can get something bigger, go for it. BUT, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Anybody else hunt that farm?

Those two probably will be looked at by some other hunter as fair chase game.


I'm not saying you're making a bad decision but if they make it to next season they should be really hard to pass.

Wow I couldn't imagine. You don't see very many deer around my parts like that. He would be in my freezer and on my wall!

I have a hard time with management on this farm, because their are alot of hunters around it. Its just an early season spot. I have another farm that i am able to manage well, so i think it will pay off if i wait. This farm has produced 5 bucks grossing over 165" in the last 4 years. The biggest being 184"

Well if the farm is big enough and these bucks go nocturnal early and have plenty of does on the farm to keep them there then you're safe till next season. To me the variables in all this happening just right are something you could answer better than one here. Good luck on your decision.

Do you let anyone hunt on this farm like ME? I'm not that far away.
