I am getting ready for my second trip to New Brunswick (Ugly Bear Lodge...you can google it) The success rate is fantastic and I came home with a bear my very first trip + saw a lot. I am hoping for a bigger one this time around (one of our group last year got a 350+) For a first time bear hunt I was extremely impressed, great people, great lodge, great hunting.

manyfaces, depends on what you are looking for. have heard good things about canada, maine, idaho, NC. you looking for guided or do-it-yourself? can't speak for canada, but loved my hunt in idaho last year and going back again this year. rule of thumb. bears east of the mississippi are generally black in color. those west of the mississippi are more color phased. not sure why. have heard lots of different things. heat being the main one.

I've only hunted bears in alberta and saskatchewan.Alberta the area was only spot and stock,no baiting aloud because of grizzlys.I saw 6 bears the one spring.I'm on my 2nd year of hunting saskatchewan bears. The forest we hunt in has alot of color phase bears, what I've been told.I've only seen black and brown colored.

its hard to beat western canada...if its baiting youre after, then sask or manitoba have great no.s and large (very large) bear.
if youre after the spot and stalk hunts i would suggest b.c. be prepared to pay for those though. ontario has no spring hunt anymore...

Absolutely! I was there the first week of June last year and at that point everyone prior had gotten a bear except one fellow and as I understand, he had the opportunity. There were 4 the week I was there and we all went home with bears
I saw bear each day but had a very hard time judging size, I didn't actually shoot one until the last day.
