No snow but the water idea could be choice. 110 in the August sun. Makes keeping ones scent down a problem. (read that BO in 30 min.) I would guess most deer in the area are using the fresh water of the river. About a mile of river front. So, walk it, find the tracks where they're drinking and set up a camera? Might be the best 'short cut'..

If you find some secluded or hidden water holes, that is where they will go over a running river. They get the water they need but stay less visible. Deer don't really care if the water runs, just that it is wet. If there is not a hidden water hole, if you can, put one in. Pick a couple trees 20-30 yards from it in different wind directions and set up there on a hot afternoon and kill ya a deer!!!! Be careful getting to your site keeping the wind in mind.

You might want to look at the north sides of hills where it's a little shadier and cooler. I'm sure you know this, but keep an eye out for Sycamore trees, they only grow near water. This may help to clue you in on some of the water sources that ladybowhntr is talking about.

Depending on your terrain and amount of trees.... Look for natural edges...

Deer here on the East coast don't like big open spaces unless its dark...

They can be hard to find.. If you looking at an area don't look to hard...try to take in the whole picture....

It might just be a group of trees that happen to be growing closer together than the others, or an old hedge row....

Deer will follow these edges

And remember Deer are LAZY... If they are relaxed they will take the easiest path from point A to B.... saddles in hillsides, shallow water, narrow spots in creeks....
