I'm watching Paula Dean and the woman just deep fried a piece of CAKE!!!! THEN, she covered it in powdered sugar AND chocolate . To make it "healthy" she added mint!

O-mylanta! I can feel my arteries clogging!

Paula is one of my favorites on Food Network. But there are times where she gets a little too "flirty" for my tastes on her show "Paula's Party". Especially for a married woman.

Yuck. There's a lot of things that taste good deep fried, but cake is not one of them. Not that I've tried it or anything...

Just for y'all nonbelievers out there. Oh, and one of our favorite treats when we went out to eat was fried cheese cake. They put a chunk of cheese cake in a tortilla and fried it. Then they put raspberry and chocolate sauce on top of it and sprinkled it with powdered sugar. Oh my heavens it was amazing!!! And don't even get me started on fried ice cream!!!

Deep-Fried Chocolate Pound Cake, courtesy of Paula Deen

Ingredients
2 cups corn flakes, finely crushed
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
3 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 eggs
1 teaspoon water
Bag Lady's Favorite Chocolate Pound Cake
Oil, for deep-frying
Powdered sugar, for sprinkling
Chocolate syrup, for drizzling
Directions
Mix cereal, sugar and cinnamon. Divide equally between 2 pie plates or other shallow containers. Beat eggs with water in another pie plate or shallow bowl. Cut pound cake into bite-sized square pieces. Press each square in cereal mixture and press coating into cake. Dip coated square in egg wash, then roll in second container of cereal mixture. Again press coating onto cake.

Freeze coated cake squares on a waxed paper lined baking sheet until solid, 4 to 6 hours. Deep-fry frozen coated cake squares for 45 seconds. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with chocolate syrup.

Serve with whipped cream and a cherry.

(I love fried food... but even I have my limits.)
