This is what Sears is calling today, January 29. Every Sears store, throughout the United States, is firing low seniority managers and assistant managers. Unfortunately, my boss was one of the many. I wonder how many fat cat, pencil pushers, at Hoffman Estates are being "let go"?

There are no words for it other than this really sucks. I'm waiting for them to start thinning out the rest of us.

Well that sucks! Where Holly and I work they are going to be laying off 12 people. Holly, my mom and myself should be safe for a while. I think its only gonna get worse for everyone.

I think you're right. They've already closed one store south of us and they made more money than we do. I fear it's only a matter of time. Man, did I mention that this sucks?

Black Thursday got me twice in my 8 year career as a CAD designer at a local business. I got it after 8 months at their facility 20 miles from here but was picked up 2 hours later by the plant in town. They got me again 7 years later which just happens to be one of the happiest days of my life.

My department was the "safest" in the facility (we thought) They got rid of half of us.

Staying WAY away from TLC's comment for fear of my life...

We have laid off 12% since June 2008. We have an internal webpage that they use for all kinds of things, but this week they actually had the testicular fortitude to write a column about the person who is in charge of Corporate Restructuring (We call her the black widow) AND PUT HER HATCHET-FACED-SHREWISH PICTURE UP THERE to boot! She's standing there all puffed up with a look like her stuff don't stink... I almost puked!

Entire departments are gone. Some people had been there 30 years or more!

Every quarter our CEO flys in from the Ivory Tower in New York with his entourage of sycophants and yes-men, and spreads his message of hope for the future like manure, then opens the floor for questions.

Funny... ever since the first one I went to... I haven't been asked to go to another. Hmmm... We'll explore this in another conversation maybe. Anyway... You all know what I do... so you can imagine how bad it's been in our shop since the markets started falling.

I get it. Believe me.

I've been job hunting for some time now, there's not much around though.

Recession or is now a depression, makes you wonder. We all are going to feel the heat of this before it gets any better.
