While he is right, we can narrow that down some.....

the vitals on a bear are higher than a deer. I was told to draw a horizontal line through the middle of the bear and aim behind the shoulder on that line.

NBEF has an excellent shot placement guide for black bear. I purchased one before my first bear hunt and it did help. The lodge also had the same one available for clients to look at.
