made it back from my elk trip

I had a pretty good couple of days hunting elk out north of pincher creek,ab.The first morning a half hour into our hike up the hill I spoted 2 spikers(we can only shoot 3 points or bigger)so we work out way around them and end up in with some big bulls and bugled with them for a few hours but they won't come to us.Then the next day on the same hill and at the same spot was a herd of 40 elk out in the open along the tree line,there was a 7x7 and 3-4x4 and 2 5x5 and the rest were cows.The wind was perfect and we managed to get within 150yards and we spend 2 hours calling and nothing all the bulls would do is bugle back.(of course I left my video camera back at the truck)

They headed east in the trees along the north slope so we had to hike around 3 miles and try and catch them on the east side(that almost killed me).But when we got there they were bugling like crazzy so we worked our way closer calling and bugling but they just still would come to us.We managed to sneak in to about 60 yards in the the trees were they were headed but not a clear shot at all by the time they left us we had spent about 5 hours of just calling with them that day.My ears were ringing that night but even though they won't come close it has been the best elk experince I've ever had.I can't wait till next year.

here is a couple more pics from my hunting partner he emailed me.this is were we spent most of our time chasing the elk.The hills don't look to big from the pics but i takes forever to get to the top of them.

That's big big huge country there....! Just trying to figure it out then getting to it would be a challenge but what fun EH!
