to total traditional gear. I will contunue to mostly hunt with my kateraXL this year, but Im thinking about using only my recurve or longbow next year. Ive gotten back to the way I used to hunt years ago, no guns, bow only all year. I will be hunting with a recurve some this year. I just get so excited when I think about even coming close to taking an animal with my trad bows. Turkey season even becomes fun again.

anyone ever done this before?

I have been toying with one for 2 years now. I havent shot my recurve much this year. I did get a shot last year and missed a doe with it. It sure makes it alot more of a challenge. But for this year I will be shooting my Katera.

If your really serious about going trad, sell your compound and shoot the stick as much as possilble. That way there is no crutch or excuse not to shoot it. When you have both you will shoot the stick most of the year then tend to set it down when the season gets close especially if you get some good TC pics.

I wont sell the hoyt cause of the 3d club i belong to. But its wierd I only shoot the trad bows on my home 3d course. I realy have no interest in shooting the compound here year round anymore. well see.

imo shootin 3-d is funner with a stick especially when you go to all trad events. a trad get together is a heck of a lot of fun, along with lots of trading and usually custom bowyers on hand at the bigger ones. not near the pressure and loads of good helpfull folk. You wont go to a compound 3d shoot with 350 people there and 75%+ of them let you see,hold and shoot their bows, most any stick shooter is more than happy to let you try.

Hey if thats what trips your trigger, do it. So go out this year, put some game on the groud with your compound and keep it around for backup. Oh yeah, score some points for team 5 too.

Ive been out everyday but one since the opener(including this morning)be back out in an hour or so. I will put some points on the board before to long
