Anyone else lose Power from Hurricane IKE?

The wind was just a bending all the trees in my area on Sunday, with some gusts reaching 70MPH. It was nasty. Then at 6:00pm it cut our power. We didn't get it back on until yesterday at 8:30am, much better than the predicted Saturday that they were telling us.
You don't realize how much you rely on electricity until you're without it!

How has everyone else weathered the storm?

We just got some wind over in central PA

We got 9 1/2" of rain over a 3 day period. Lot of flooded basements. My sump pump was working overtime. No loss of power.

We got power on last night about 7:30 but there are some places here in East Texas that are predicted to be out for weeks. And some water places don't have generators so there are several who are out of water and electricity. And some places have lose their land line phones (backup batteries only last so long and phone lines do have to have some electricity).

I am just thankful that none of my co-workers, friends, and family had any serious damage or was hurt.

I did not realize that the winds caused so much damage that far north . . . no TV and only local radio stations will keep you uninformed about the rest of the world. Did anyone have any serious damage to anything or any injuries?

Preacher is headed down to Houston with his Uncle and a bunch of heavy equipment to begin the clean up/rescue efforts. He's going to keep me posted, so I will relay.

We lost power for about 3.5 hours on Sunday. We had over 5" of rain in 4 hours. Lots of flash flooding.

out 6 days and counting, we were out 18 for Rita. Got power back to our bowshop in livingston today, but probably wont have any for another week out here in the sticks, but thats where the welding machine comes in handy and runs everything.

We were lucky, no one was hurt. The papers showed a few garages crushed, but no injuries that I heard of. We had a couple trees down on our property, but my sister heats her house with wood, so they'll take it. The funny thing was we didn't get much rain at all, just the wind. ??? I sure feel for you in Texas, that has to be nasty.

HA! And I thought we were the only ones who were hick enough to have a welding machine and use it for a generator!!! Glad all is well and hoping y'all get power back soon. I know of 4 different places here that are looking at 4 days, minimum, before they get electricity back.
