We got batteries but would love electricity!! There are two of us who work here that still don't have electricity. It is a bummer. I have missed the season finale of The Closer, the second episode of True Blood, and Archer's Choice. The weather has turned off cool so no problems there (blessings from heaven, I know!) but the TV thing is getting old. Sad commentary isn't it?

When I as little, we watched the news and a western if there was one on. That was it. We played dominoes, gin, and 42. We visited with neighbors. We read (I still read during the commercials). And we went to bed early b/c we were up at the bu**-crack of dawn to keep from using more electricity than we had to. We had fans in the windows to circulate the air, there was no air conditioner. I remember when we got our first air conditioner (my cousin and I cut out a door and windows and he drew flowers and grass and we played in the box all summer!!). I kinda miss those days—until I have to go back to them!!!

Actually, we were too far from school to walk. We rode the plow mules . . .

Okay, I did not have to ride the mule to school. But my dad did plow with a mule. A big old white mule named Kate. We still have the plows and all the harness stuff. And we have mules. Not to plow with but to ride while hog hunting. Ah, the joys of being hick!!

A long legged, flop eared mule rides better than most horses in my opinion. They're a little onrey at times, but ain't we all? Been a while ,though. Gonna get me enough property to have one or 2, one of these days.
