Yikes, that reminds me of a near miss myself and another pilot had several years ago. I was taxing down the taxi way in Keene, NH just as another plane hit the throttle to take off. Right at that moment 6 deer came bounding out of the woods onto the taxi way, then on to the runway and across. To this day I recall them touching the runway only once and then clearing it.

Wasn't a big deal for me since I was moving at about 5 miles an hour but I'm sure the guy taking off just about had a heart attack.
