Moon phases

What is the deal with moon phases? Every time I see the Redhead commercial "Have you ever planned you hunts around a moon phase?" I ask myself why one would.

So... since I can't answer the question... I'm asking you all.

What's up with the moon talk??

Some wildlife feed according to moon phases, if the weather stays fair. There are two majors and two minors each day; most days. Majors last 1 1/ to 2 hours, minors last 3/4 to one hour. I have seen it work and somedays it did not matter. Some hunting websites have a daily chart in regards to the chances - moves about a hour each day. Timed right with the full/new moon in my area, it works most of the time; deer are more active. If you figure it out, let me know; I am still trying.

exactly what nchunter said. plus, it gives you more light after dark to see your pin when hunting late.

you can also get an idea of the rut if you use the moon phases. been tracking this for years. second full moon after the fall solstice(?)should roughly be the start of the rut. this year, around the 13th of november. DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE! so do not attack the messenger. and yes, weather can change this a bit. warmer than usual will make it seem like there is nothing going on, when in fact, it still is, just that they are going nocturnal for the hanky panky. guess they like their privacy?

I love full moon! 99.9% of hunters hate it! I like it because I killed 10/11 bucks the the day before, the day of, or the day after fullmoon. And it doesnt matter where I hunt. Did it in Canada and the US. I know what some of you are thinking. You are probably thinking I hunt at night.

That is weird.....the deer seem to vanish around a full moon in my neck of the woods.

Me too, they tend to feed after dark during the full moon.

Thats why I am saying I am in the .1%. Dont know why but its been good for me. Hey Ffirediver go back and look what the moon phase was for November 24, 2007. You know the day i choked in Anticosti.

Alot of people swear by the moon phases...Not me.

I'm agree that the full moon just means more light at night...

Deer move more at night and hole up more in the day.

What does the moon phase have to do with your reaction to a seafood dinner??
