Trail Camera Question

I have a trail camera and I set it out, and when I go and check the photos a week or so later I have 500+ photos on it with only 20 or 30 pictures of deer, all the pictures are being taken with nothing on them. Any suggestions to my problem?

depending on what kind of camera you have, you should be able to set the time delay to a different setting. sounds like the delay is set too long. change it and see what happens. the factory settings are not always the best. and you could also have other critters setting it off. have coons set mine off. as well as birds if they fly too close. also, check to see if you have it set up to high on the tree, post. or whatever you have it attached to. should be about 2 1/2 - 3 feet off the ground if its level.

Also could be birds flying by, brush moving in the wind, squirrels etc.

You might also check to make sure that the camera is angled toward the direction you think the deer are coming from.

Make sure it isnt facing towards the sun. That will cause some problems.

Make sure and trim any limbs near the front and side of it that might get blown by the wind and trigger the cam.

sounds like everyone hase given you good tips and I'll agree with them all usually try to set it up pointing north or south so the sun dosen't set it off and the wind blowing grass or branches in front of it trigger them alot. Sometimes if you study the pictures very close that you think are nothing you will find a rabbit, bird, or other small animal. It could also be the trigger speed of the unit. try aiming it up or down the trail so they stay in view for a longer period of time.
