I think my little girl will be a hunter

My 3 year little girl has been bugging me about going hunting I asked her if she wanted me to get her a bow like daddy and she got so excited,she wants a pink one.I told her if she's good at the baby sitters today I'll take her out gopher hunting tonight.My wife just shakes her head but the little one says" its ok mommy I go hunting with daddy and you stay home."

I'll never forget when my boy was 3 and her corrected my wife at Cabela's. "Thats not an Elk Mommy thats a Moose!" She finally agreed with him when a salesman confirmed he was correct!

I already have my 1.5 year old calling out "Deer" and "Bear" when she sees one in my magazines!

I love hearing stories of other fathers getting their kids involved in the outdoors. Especially little girls!!

I love hear about kids that want to go out with there parents. I don't have any kids of my own yet. But i help out with are junior program at our archrey club.

My two have been going to the woods with me for a couple years now already. My daughter started when she was 3. For that matter so did my son. Here's a picture of us getting ready to head out last year for some turkey hunting. Now they are going on 7 and 5!!! Amazing how fast time goes.

Take her gopher getting! Just make sure she's wearing some muffs.

For all ya'll that have kids, let an older guy(read that as Dad) offer a little advice. Take 'em! It'll be some of the best times you ever spent in the woods. I wish my grandkids lived on this side of the US. I'd be gone all the time with 'em.

I take my 3 1/2 year old daughter with as much as I can. She spends alot of time with me from late summer to the early summer as I don't get weekends off so when I'm off Monday and Tuesday she goes with me. She knows all her animals and what sounds they make.

She has been on many turkey scouting trips with me and last fall made her first deer recovery trip with me when I went to retrieve my bow harvest.

She was just 9 days shy of being 3 years old.


She also had a blast feeding the wild turkeys at the farm all winter long.


There are worst thing for them to be doing at this age. Get an child interested in hunting or fishing an have and new partner for life.

Going to try an find her an kids bow for next year most likely.
