Bow Hunting From Ladder Stands?

I have a ladder stand that I hunted out of last year and will second the suggestion to take an extra ad to sit on (the back of the tree is not bad but the thin cushion lasts only a couple of hours!).

Thanks for starting this thread and for all of the replies! I will definitely check into the whole lanyard thing! Last year I was trying to keep everything in a back pack (I have a two person ladder stand that I refuse to share!) and it was such a pain!

That's one reason I plan to use the burlap for. Hide a backpack. It's a camo one and everything, but still.
I also have a Bow holder that I had won. I think it screws into the tree though. It's the one from RealTree, the EZ Holder or something like that. ???

That EZ holder will be your best friend. Just don't get caught flat footed.

You will be able to sit on stand for so much longer with that EZ holder.

Or any bow hanger for that matter!!!!

Oh and don't forget it in the tree!!! Especially if you use a climber!!!

OC, nothing wrong with the screw in type bow holders. BUT, if you use one of them, you will have to move to get to the bow. unless you attach it to a nearby tree that you can reach from your stand. this is the type of bow holder I was talking about. have some similar in all my treestands so that the bow is right there in front of me. not much movement that way.

i used a hang on with a 16 foot ladder. i set it up about 20 yards from a heavily used trail and got my first bow kill. as a matter of fact it was my first deer. im hooked on stands and will use them throut the bow season this year. ive tried the climbing stands and found they are harder to get to your spot and make more noise. ill stick with my hang on.

Good point TLC, Nothing like having a deer come in and having to swing your arm out, pick up the bow, swing it to you and then pull off the draw.

Try them both to see which you like.

I tried the stand mount holder, but I kept bumping it with my foot. I'm not to keen on dropping an expensive bow 20 feet to the ground.

Not to mention some bows with parallel limbs don't work to well with that type of holder.

Thats just the reason I went with the hanger style. You choose the one you like!!!

I didn't like the stand mounted bow holder. I couldn't get my bow to sit properly. I went with the EZ-Hanger also and it's been much easier for me.

Hhmmm, well since I've already got the EZ holder, maybe I'll get it set up and try it first. Then if all else fails I'll grab a stand mounted holder.
