Purchased a pair of Alpen Apex 8x42 on eBay, paid less than half of retail. Super crisp, great light transmission, positive adjustment and focus points. I'm thrilled. They hold up quite nicely to the expensive glass some of my friends use.

I found a great dealer of Vortex Optics on another forum and I love them! Vortex is also made in Wisconsin, USA!

I use the Leupold Cascade as well. I love them. Can't say I compared them to Nikons they were a gift.

I have had Leupold on my 30.06 for almost 15 years I believe. I got the first 50mm objective they came out with and with that and my Rem 700SS I've been fortunate to have dropped a lot of deer and yotes once and done shots!

I will save up and get a Vortex for my 30.30. Leupold and Vortex are both made here in the USA. That means something to me
