Another Down

Well I finally shot a P&Y bear! Last night of the season I went to pull the camera from the bait that Mike took the big brown. Looking at the pics a nice bear was there at 3:00. It was now 6:00 and I had not sat this bait yet this year so I thought what the heck I'll give it a try. At 6:45 I had a young boar come in and he left at 7:10. At 7:15 a small sow came in and left at 7:30. Well both of these bears came from directly behind me and below the stand. At 8:35 I heard a bear breathing behind me and looked to see this guy at 50 yards and closing in. He walked under the stand and I looked down and thought now theres a big bear! He got to the barrels and and then I thought theres a really good bear! I hit record on the video camera and got ready. I had just bought a new Mathews DXT that day and set it up for 20 yards and it performed. The shot was quartering away and the blood flowed. The bear piled up 20 yards from where the big brown died. I figured the bear was 300 pounds with a 4.75 inch front pad. Mikes bear was 350 pounds with a 4.25 inch pad. We did the skulls yesterday and Mikes brown went 19 2/16 ths and my black went 18 10/16 ths. We had a great season and are making big plans for next year.
