I'm headed out on a bear hunt next saturday(june 7th) . I'm thinking about changing broadheads ?? I shoot a thunderhead 125 now think about going to g5 montec 100??? I shoot a bowtech 57 lbs cx200 with a 25 an a half inch arrow . I have wed thur friday off to shot an get them all set up . good ideal or not ?????

Unless your bow is tuned well enough that all broad heads hit the same I would not change at the last moment. Those thunderhead 125s will do a number on them. It is more about shot placement and your confidence level in your setup that matters.

Jeff is right. If your current set up is spot on, then don't change a thing. If you're worried about dull blades, then get a fresh batch. If you're just looking to try something different, then do it in the off season. That way you'll have time to play with it and make all the corrections neede.d

I'm in agreement w/ the others...don't change your setup a week before your hunt. Wait until the season is over and then start experimenting w/ different heads if you want to change.

If your thunderheads are flying good I'd say stay with them, if you are determined to swtich I'd look at the hellrazor by NAP. similar design to the Montecs but much sharper blades. If you do decide to go with the hellrazors, look around a bit they offered a bonus pack (4 heads for the price of 3) last fall and some places still have some available.

I switched to montecs 100g this year and it blow through my bear like nothing.But if your set up with the thunderheads they will be fine too.I like the cut on contact broad heads.

Once again I've missed the boat here, but I concur with everyone else here, although I have a different perspective.

I would think that the 125 grain heads provide more KE and thus, more impact. Granted, it's probably not a lot of difference, but I look at it like this:

The more KE, the better. I want to make sure that when I draw on an animal, I put it down quickly and efficiently. From my tiny perspective, more KE coupled with a well placed shot means I've done that.

I would wait til the offseason also. If yyyour set on trying something new try the Hellrazors. They keep flying like field tips for me. If you do decide to switch see how they fly with out making any adjustments to your bow. If they fly the same as your Thunderheads go for it. Also your Thunderheads will do more then enough damage on your bear. Good luck!
