How far will you shoot?

I'm pretty conservative... 40 yards.

I have a Parker Hunter Mag bow with a whisker biscuit and my sights are for 10,20,and 30 yards. I practice out to 40 but an extreme max shot with only the most perfect conditions with this setup I would only try at 35 yards.

60 yards without reservation (given ideal conditions as described before) on any elk, caribou, or moose. Ideal conditions do not happen hardly ever BTW.

50 for whitetails and mule deer.

Under "normal" hunting situations and circumstances knock 10 yards off of both of those.

If the animal is alert and looking at me, knock both down to 30 or under and I will be aiming low.

At this moment in time. I wouldn't shoot past 40. I just haven't been practicing enough.

I can shoot broad heads out to 60 yds with no problem. But hunting is different, there are a lot of factors that will determine how long of a shot I will take on a given day and moment. To date my longest shot is 37 yards on a doe, to my surprise she dropped in her tracks. The shot hit the top of the heart and the lungs, this was the 1st and only one to date that has dropped like that.

I shot my buck this year at 35 yards and I was nervous about that shot.

With a rifle, well, that is another story. I shot my mule deer at 275 yards.

Max Range For Whitetail Is 35 Yards, I Practice Out To 60 Yards. Infact I Was Practicing At 60 Yards Last Week. I Hit About 2 Inches High Each Shot And Left And Right Was Pretty Good Also.

I am very comfortable out to 40 maybe even 50. Lucky for me the last 4 bucks with a bow have been 15 and under.
