I've used it for deer,sheep,coyotes,bears,elk.I just got a 270 last week that I might use for deer now.My ruger 30-06 has been a good gun though.

.300 weatherby mag I've taken chipmunks all the way up to moose with it, choose the right bullet and you're good to go! My fave for big stuff is a hot hand loaded 180 gr. barnes triple shock -- dropped a moose in his tracks last year with that. The only thing that I would hesitate on in North America would be a grumpy griz....don't know if I'd have enough to "calm him down"
