Illinois Bowfishers 2nd Annual Carlyle Classic May 1st, 10am - 6pm 2010 Event Summary 2nd annual Bowfishing Tournament held on the largest lake inside of Illinois. ·Launching out of Coles Creek Boat Ramp ·Big 15 format. Enter your heaviest 15 carp/gar/buffalo. (maximum of 5 carp, 5 buffalo, 5 gar) Heaviest stringer wins. ·Registration May 1st prior to event. Pre-tournament meeting 9:30am ·Entry fees $30 per shooter for non-members of Illinois Bowfishers, $20 each for Illinois Bowfishers members. Juniors (17 and under) shoot free with paying adult ·Maximum of three shooters per boat/team ·Optional big fish pot $10 per team ·Trailering allowed. ·Airboats allowed. ·Coles Creek Access is on the southeastern portion of the lake. ·Lake Carlyle is over 26,000 acres. It is located about 50 miles east of St. Louis, MO. 6th Annual Illinois Bowfishers State Championship Tournament May 22nd 11:00 am - May 23rd 7:00 am 2010 Wolf Creek State Park Event Summary Held on beautiful Lake Shelbyville, an 11,000 acre lake with 250 miles of shoreline. This lake is home to way too many carp and can boast 60” longnose gar and 20lb+ buffalo fish. ·20 hour event from 11am Saturday to 7am Sunday ·Registration starts at 9am on the 22nd at Wolf Creek State Park Boat Launch. ·Entry fees: $30 per person for non-Illinois Bowfishers members, $20 per Illinois Bowfishers member. Juniors (17 and under) shoot for free with a paying adult. ·1-3 shooters per team ·Big Fish Pot $10 per team ·Big 20 format. Enter your heaviest 20 fish. Common carp, gar and buffalo will count. On April 17-18th we held the 5th Annual Billy Davis Memorial Bowfishing tournament on Rend Lake. We had 29 boat teams and 6 walking teams. A cold snap made the bowfishing tough but still, over 1100 fish were brought in.
You don't have to be a member to come to the shoots, everyone is invited. These are more fun than competition. It's a great place to check out all the different rigs everyone uses too. I'd love to see some AC folks there.
