We loaded up the pack horses and they did all the work!! There is no way that that hunt could be done there without the help of the horses. The moose was shot about 3-4 hour ride from spike camp and camp was a 8 hour ride from the highway camp.
He has awesome horses that I could ride .... even tho I had never rode before.

How long did it take you to get it skinned and cut up enough to pack out?

I think it took about 4 hours to cut, cape, saw and get loaded and off riding. I shot it later in the day so we skinned the top side and took 2 qtrs off so it would cool. We went back to the spike camp to return the next day with a pack string. We left in the morn with the other 2 hunters in camp. It took us all day to get to my kill cuz we kept running into moose and didnt want to bump them. That day one hunter missed a 60+ on the way out... and as we were cuttin' we heard the other rifle hunter shoot his 65".
