Ya'll seen the show called "Monster Fish"? Anyhoo, he did a show on the Gars and those suckers get BIG! I don't think I'd enjoy swimming with them too much.

Gar as a species is extremely old and tough. They have gotten a raw deal and misrepresented reputation. That big one most probably was a very old fish and definitely a breeder. They can be a good eating fish if prepared right.
