I had a another great Rocky Mountain hunt this year, the first weekend was cold and snowing, I only saw hens. I couldn't get back in the woods till 5/9/09 I got there in time to hunt the afternoon on Friday, I saw lots of elk and hens no gobblers.
Saturday I got out early and was in the roost area before light not more than 10 ft. from two hens so I couldn't move. Long story short the two gobblers where roosted farther down hill and not interested in any off us. After all the hens left I began to stalk the gobblers keeping cover between us. I found a gobbler strutting with hens about 30 yards from me and could not get any closer for lack of cover. I couldn't see them if I sat down so I used a fallen aspen to steady my shotgun and when he came out of strut I took him down. Colorado Rocky's Merriam gobbler 17 lb 81/8 inch beard 3/8 spurs LOL http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/w...IMG_0998-2.jpg
