Aging Eyes

This is a question for either Ralph or Vicki to answer. I have been bowhunting the last 7 years and I have just hit that magical age of 40. I have gone from having fairly good eyesight to where I can't focus at all on my pins when I loook through my peep sight. I went and got glasses about a week ago but I can't shoot with them on because when I put the string on my nose I'm looking right through the frame. I'm thinking about contacts but I really dont' want to get them. I know that you guys are somewhere around this age and I'm wondering if you have incured any of these problems and what you may have done to cure the problem. I love watching your shows on the outdoor channel. You guys rock!

Look at this, at the shop I go to there are a few guys that use this. It’s something that I might have to look in to in the next few years. I have also hit 40 a year ago and my eyes are not what they used to be.

I wore glasses since I was 8 years old.

Lasik surgery was the best thing I have ever done!!!!

Lasik is a good thing but it doesn't take care of your vision problems after you hit 40. I had Lasik done in 2001 when I was 50 years old. I'd do it again. Your up close reading vision is not better after lasik unless you make one eye for reading and one for distance. Personally I use reader glasses but when it comes to shooting a bow they come off. Seeing the site pins are a blurr to me and then focusing on a distant target - it's very difficult. But it can be done with practice. I sometimes have to move the pins off the target spot just a faction then find it again before I determine I'm on it before releasing the arrow. This takes a second more but it does work for me. I hope Ralph can answer what he does or Vickie for this problem because I have seen them wearing reader glasses too.

I second the verifier. I use one and won't shoot without it. It does work!!!

I watch the target/animal, then the pin seems to superimpose (wow thats a big word) on the spot I want to hit.
The pin is "just there", it's not clear like what I'm looking, I think it's because I'm not focusing on it. But the arrow threads the needle when I release.
Some experts say to focus back and forth pin spot pin spot, ...... for a simple mind like mine, I have too much trouble doing that(probably that multi-tasking thing)

Maybe thats why I like shooting a stykbow, just draw, look and release.

So... correct me if I am wrong here... but these "verifiers" are like a bifocal for your peep sight?
