Watching TV

Tonight I’m sitting down watching TV (hunting) and my 5 yr old daughter plops down on my lap. After a few minutes she said,”Dad do you see that deer?”. I tell her, “Yes”. Then she ask me,”Would you shot it?” Before I could reply yes, she says” I would shot it with my bow” as she makes the motion of shooting a bow at the deer and then saying “wack”.

Then My 10 yr old daughter sits next to us and ask,”how old do you have to be to hunt deer?” I told her that you have to pull 40Lbs. Then she asks how much is my bow? I told her about 20Lbs. She then looks at me with a smile and says,”Well that means I only have to pull 20 more pounds”.

One thing about my girls no matter what type of a day I have they seem to find a way to make it a little brighter.

That is way cool!!! Little huntresses in the making!!!!! Take them out with you this year!!!! Let them try at squirrels and such!!!!

You might want to consider a Crossbow for your 10yr old. Then in a couple more years when she can pull 40lbs, your other daughter can move on to the crossbow.

Unfortunately no crossbows for kids here in IL, I think they allow seniors to use them or if you are disabled but they will not let kids use them. Too bad, Ricks nephew (14) really wants to hunt this year but is unable to pull 40 #'s yet so he has to sit it out for the year We'll still bring him with but he just can't bow hunt with us.

Thats awesome,my 3 year old girl pretends to shoot bears with her bow.She has been really buging me about going hunting so I think I will take her out to my blind one night.

I got that Remmington in while my step kids were at their dad's house.

Poor Becca... I had her come up to our room so I could show her the new gun, and she thought it was the .243 we were going to get her.

"IS THAT MINE?? YOU GOT ME MY RIFLE?!?"

Man did I feel low...

She is ready as ready gets!

Well that sucks. I remember seeing a thing called "Draw-Loc" I think it was. Anyway, you attach it to your bow and it pulls back your Compound like a Crossbow, which allows you to shoot additional weight. I really thought about getting this as I couldn't pull the 40lbs when I first got my bow. As it turned out though, we just kept tightening the bow down about a quarter to half turn at a time and I gradually got up to and over the legal limit. I hardly noticed the differnce either, because it was just a little at a time.
