I personally think it depends on the deer itself have beening using trail cameras for the last three years now and have never notice any problem with the flash spooking the deer. If any thing they seem to come closer to check it out. All five of my Moulties are the older Flash models.

I have had the same results as bullmoose on older bucks I get one pic. and then he won't come around it again in that spot. This happened three years ago we were seeing a 11 point about three times a week in one area. I put out the camera's got 1 pic the first few days out then no more. However the buck stayed in the area because we kept seeing him and two months later a friend hunting with me shot him 200 yards from where I got the picture. I don't think young bucks or doe mind but older bucks just avoid the camera after one flash have had it happen several times. The prowler hasen't bothered them I've got several video clips of older bucks and then get them again 1 or 2 days later.

The flash does not seem to bother them it seemed to be the winding of the film on the 35mm cameras. The new digital cameras do not make noise and do not seem to spook the deer. I have had multiple shots of bucks in the same spot with a flash.
