Hello and good morning to all. My question is besides the obvious sow with cubs, how to do you tell a boar from a sow, primarily the size of body and head, and or asking the bear. haha. ??

Sow - Long nose, narrow between the ears and ears look large or stick out from the head.
Body shape is more slim with taller looking legs. Lower belly area has and even shape right up behind the back legs. Boar - Large head with space between the ears. Ears look small and are close to the head. Body - Plumper, shorter looking legs, Penal sheth in front of back legs. Hope that helps... |

Sow just never stops talking and the boar just listens all the time.
![]() Younger bears under 3 years of age or around 200 lbs or less it's very hard to tell. When they get mature the legs, head and body size do change for the males being larger but still hard to judge. |
