He was in Alaska a few years ago hunting with his cousin that lives up there. They were offshore fishing. All of a sudden something doubled his rod over and started taking his line out. He tried to reel it in but his reel was slipping and continued to take more line. He pulled to no avail and his line continued to feed against his will. He was shocked, confused, and a bit scared. Finally, when he was just about out of line a whale splashed out above the surface of the water and my brother-in-law's line finally broke. He said that whale never even broke stride. Probably never even knew he either swallowed the line or it hung up on it but he actually hooked a whale!
Another guy I knew was casting overhead into a nearby lake as a duck zoomed in. the duck caught his cast in mid-air and fell/slammed into the water. The duck fought for a bit and broke his line. Funny, you just never imagine these types of things happening when you try to have a relaxing day of fishin'.

HA!!!
Yeah tell me... Short story cuz I gotta meet my dad for a Rockies game. Go Rocks! I was wading in relatively shallow water. No shoes/socks. GAWD AWFUL pain in my pinky toe. Looked down and a crawdad grabbed a hold of my toe and wouldn't let go. Stupid thing.

So far, my worst fishing experiences are catching "limb bream". You know, when you overcast and the lure or bait gets caught on a tree limb.
![]() I get my hook back about 50% of the time when that happens.
