Im thinking about taking my daughter with me this year for turkey. she will be about 6 1/2 at that time. I thought maybe about hunting out of a ground blind so she can move around a little. Obviously she wont actually be hunting but just watching. Any thoughts on this matter?

I don't think there's a bad age to start a child in the woods. The parents , on the other hand, are gonna need some patience and be willing to cut their hunts short if the child gets too restless. We've got to remember that to a child, being cooped up and quiet is more like punishment than fun.
Invest in some earmuffs made for child size heads, too. Gameboys and coloring books help alot also. My grandson has been hunting with his Daddy since he was about 3 years old. Give that youngun a bag of chips and a DP, he'll sit right with ya.

6 1/2 is perfect! Get 'em out there young! Like VA said, she'll get restless. Your hunt WILL be shorter than you'd like. Take some coloring books, gameboy, psp, snacks, drinks, earmuffs are good, since most kids don't like stuff in their ears. Don't forget the toilet paper and show her where she can go pee. If she doesn't already know how to pee in the woods (it's different for girls than it is for guys) here's a little tip: Find a sapling that she can easily grab hold of. She needs to face the sapling, grab hold and sit back, then she can do her business. Simply squatting to pee will result in wet pant legs and boots.
Shoot, let her work the call, too! The kids and I have fun trying to sound like a bunch of turkeys.

I've had plenty of experience getting my pant legs and boots wet! No one taught me how to pee in the woods, so I had a bit of a learning curve. LOL!

Maybe you can be a special guest speaker at a hunting show. Peeing in the woods: Keep the pant legs dry.
