On the oil barrel it's a 25 gallon i put in 4 5 gallon pails of grease so i just leave the top off and lag it to the tree about 1 foot off the ground in case it rains i can dump it easily then refill.
with the meat barrel i would cut just a 3-4" hole and chain it as well they will get everything out as long as there are no big bones
My oat barrel i stagger the holes around the barrel and they just roll it around i fill once in the spring and once in the fall. If i go in to check then i will take in just oil
