Ok, I deveoped this recipe from another that turned out horribly wrong! lol
These are awesome biscuits, even if I do say so mayself.
For those who bake, please bear with me. I will lay this recipe out for those who don't bake so much.
I do this for my daughter, because she has a tendancy to throw everything into the bowl, then mix. Oopsy!
Preheat your oven to 425.
2 cups Self-Rising flour (do not
use All Purpose or the biscuits will taste bland and not appealing at all! Also, loosen the flour then spoon it into the measuring cup)
1 level Tablespoon Baking Powder
1 level Tablespoon Sugar
Mix these first 3 ingredients, well.
To the flour add 3/4 cup shortening. With the back of a fork, mix and mash the shortening into the flour until the mix becomes crumbly. Don't get the crumblies too small! It's the shortening that gives the biscuits their fluff!
Lastly, add 1 cup of Buttermilk. Mix until all flour has been moistened.
The reason for spooning the flour is that 2 cups of compacted flour will affect the biscuits such that they could become too dense to rise properly, and thus, taste yucky (technical term). 2 cups of loose flour will help to create a light, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth biscuit.
If your dough is very moist, so much that you cannot roll the biscuit, don't worry!! You've got an awesome drop biscuit! If your dough is not that moist, roll that baby out and cut your biscuits-either way, they are awesome!
Put your biscuits on a baking sheet. Pop in the oven for 10 minutes, or until they are golden, and be prepared with butter and your favorite jelly (or honey
