We started using a lineman's rope while we are climbing the steps.
Not the perfect scenario but alot safer than nothing...
We have bought nothing but the Gorilla Steel Climbing sticks...
Easy to put in....Easy to climb....Fairly easy on the wallet too...
Can get them at Wal-Mart for around $10 apiece...
