I sat down this afternoon and figured a good way to bear proof the cam and make it easy to set up.I mounted the solar panel to the top of it and have the box all one peice so all I have to do it is put 2 lag screws into the tree and it won't be going anywere.

looks like that will/should keep the bears out of it. nice job.

Do you think that the bears might rip off the solar panel?

I like the idea of a solar panel though. I have a 12v battery that needs to be brought back for charging.

I was talking to a guy about that and he did have a bear wreck his solar panel so I will take it off and just use a regural 6v battery and keep the solar panel for deer season.

Timba, instead of doing that, try using a piece of metal conduit and run the wires thru it from the solar panel to the camera box. that way you can put the panel higher in the tree. as I said before, make it tougher for the bear to climb and get it if it has to go around the box you made for the camera. or you can always have the pipe offset so it sits away from the tree and almost hangs in the air by itself. want to get the bears used to seeing that panel if you are going to use it.
