Bow speed
My question would be. Does any bow makers produce a bow shooting 340fps at 28 inch draw and 70lbs draw weight. Also with out spending a $1000.00. I shoot an old Hoyt cybertec now. Please help if you can.
Thank you Ken

The answer is no. At 28" draw you have to subtract 10 FPS for every inch less than IBO testing at 30 inches. At 28" you have to take 20 fps of the 340fps before you subtract for things on the string and the weight of a arrow. When all that is taken off you'll be in the high 280 or maybe 290 FPS range and that depends on arrow eight and how well your bow is tuned.

I know I shot three Mathews bows that are rated at 340FPS and I'm a 28" draw that's what the math show and the chrono agrees. :)

The biggest factor is arrow weight IBO speed is an 350 grain arrow shot from a bow with 70# and 30" draw. While a hunting setup will never get the same speed as advertised by any manufacturer, you can use IBO speed to compare bows somewhat. But more important than speed is how the bow fits the shooter. My recomondation would be to shoot as many bows as you can and find the one you like and not get caught up on a number.
