Hunted a new area
 

I got to bow hunt a new area yesterday and all I can say is wow on how many deer we saw! It's a double secret location and I can only go to when my daughter's boyfriend is allowed to go. We saw about a dozen deer on way in and I saw about 1/2 dozen just in the morning. None were close enough for a shot.

I'm hoping to go again next weekend. :D

Well, the reason I can only sometimes and with my daughter's boyfriend is that it's a military base and he's in the reserves and trains there. So it's not open to everyone. Only those that have permission and a guest. Him and my daughter have take 3 deer out of there already. My daughter's first deer too during firearms season.

Where we were seeing a bunch of deer, there aren't any good trees for a tree stand, so sitting back off the clear cuts, and there are a lot of those, on the ground is about all you can do.

Have you ever hunted out of a pop-up blind? Sounds like the ticket for bowhunting the place , just brush it real good to break up the outline of it. Good luck.

I could do that, but some of the wooded areas are fairly thick and a popup blind wouldn't fit in there. I had thought of that too.

Where we did see some deer, I did see a bunch of seed pods from locust trees on the ground. So, they are probably hitting them for food.
