recurve bow
My sister in law found an old recurve bow in a huse they bought,it looks to be in really good shape.I'm going to try and get a string for it soon and was wondering if I can shoot my carbon arrows from my compound bow or is there a different arrow I should be shooting with it.

you can shoot carbons from a traditional, but the thing you should be concerned with is the draw length. You shouldn't have the same draw length on the trad as you do your compound. most trad shooters I've seen and talked to only draw the bow to thier chin and nose. I imagine your compound anchor point is further back.

I suppose on that note, your arrow on the compound may have a stiffer spine than would be required for that particular bow. You might have some strange flight issues.
The trad folks tend to shoot a much heavier arrow too. Met a guy who added weight to the front of his arrows to pull the slow flying arrow and hit harder.

My brother in law is shooting my old Easton Axis from his 45 lbs trad bow. They fly pretty good for him.

I saw some writing on the bow that said 55# and 28' so I'm thinking its a 28 inch draw which is what I shoot my compound bow. When I take it in to get a string I'll see if I can get a few better arrows for it then.I hoping to get good enough at it to use it for next spring bear.

The 55@28 means that you are drawing 55 pounds at 28 inches. You can draw farther that that, but it would be drawing more than 55 pounds. The 55@28 is the AMO rating that is used on most traditional bows. You will want a heavier arrow weight for a smoother flight, but you will need to practice with different weights and spines to find one that works with that bow and your form. Check out 3riversarchery. com. They have a lot of stuff to choose from to get you started. Just to let you know, shooting traditional is very addicting, and a lot of fun. Good luck.
